Paul Begg was forced to take early retirement from
the Corps of Drums band due to knee problems and subsequently his mobility
has become severely restricted from other issues.
desperate to access his local countryside, 6’6”, Paul
found it impossible to source a suitable scooter that would
accommodate him until the donation came from the UK’s oldest Armed Forces
charity, SSAFA.
The capabilities of the award-winning Breeze were first highlighted to Paul in a clip from BBC TV’s Top Gear programme. During this episode, the Top Gear presenters competed against disabled army veterans, one on a TGA Breeze, in an extreme mobility scooter challenge on the Welsh Brecon Beacons. The Breeze managed to reach a steep summit first as it successfully tackling rocky paths and muddy slopes.
Paul explains: “I missed seeing the local wildlife such as deer and squirrels so much, I wanted my freedom back. Thank you so much SSAFA.”
