Situated in Hurlingham Park, Fulham, most of the ground is covered
with boards making it slightly easier to roll on.
The event has six teams made up of three players representing
cities from around the world. The pitch is smaller than usual allowing
spectators to get closer to the action and the rules are slightly different.
Unfortunately, as the action is so close, there is a
protective board around the pitch. Due to the height, it is easier to watch the
games on the big screens otherwise you are only able to see the top half of the
horse and player.
There is a small grandstand with seating so it would be
better if a small ramp could be added to allow wheelchair users to get a higher
viewing point.
Hospitality and small shops are on the perimeter of the
pitch along with the Champagne Lanson Garden Bar and the Mahiki Bar which has
Europe’s longest bar. Tables and chairs are available but it is advisable to
arrive early as they go quickly.
It is a thoroughly enjoyable day and continues into the
evening. There is a large accessible toilet so the only improvement would be
for wheelchair users to have a better pitch view.
