Disabled Driving Tips

With the summer in full swing, disabled motorists can make the most of the good weather with top tips on seasonal driving.

The summer driving checklist, found at
motability.co.uk/summer, includes tips such as:

Keep warm clothes and a blanket in the car. Even when it is sunny during the day time, the temperature can drop quickly in the evening during the summer months.

Before you set off, pack some food and bottles of water in case you get stuck in traffic or are travelling with young children.

Ensure that your mobile phone battery is fully charged before starting your journey. That way you will be able to call for assistance if necessary, and the RAC are able to track the mobile phone signal to find you.

Be sure to close all windows properly and never leave any of your valuables on display in the car - don’t make your car an easy target for thieves.

Never leave your dog in a parked car on a warm day. Even if it’s only for a few minutes, leaving the window open a few inches or parking in the shade is not enough.

What are your tips?
