Paralysed Motocross Rider

A paralysed female motocross rider has made a video to support spinal cord injury research.

Laurie Squirrell, who was once regarded as the most promising female motocross rider Britain, however in 2004 she suffered a spinal cord injury. Laurie was competing in her first professional Motorcross race in San Antonio, Texas when she crashed on a corner during practice and broke her back which left her paralysed from the chest down.

In this short video, Laurie is joined by her childhood friend and British Motorcross rider Elliott Banks-Browne as they discuss their memories of riding together, their love of speed and dirt tracks. Laurie recalls the day of her crash and explains why she supports the Wings for Life Foundation and the importance of the cutting edge research that they fund.

This May you too can support spinal cord injury research by taking part in the Wings For Life World Run. This unique global running event takes place in over 35 countries and will be coming to Silverstone Race circuit on May 3rd. For more information please visit http://www.wingsforlifeworldrun.com
