<div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">

<br />
There could be a hidden cost of travel abroad – and it’s not what many of us
would expect. According to research from Xpress Money Services, up to
£390million in unchanged foreign currencies remains tucked in jars and drawers
around the country, over 12 months after returning home.<br />
Amongst those who have travelled abroad, the average UK home contains up to
five different forms of currency with the average amount per household sitting
at around £47. High exchange rates and the perceived hassle of getting out
to a bank or Post Office are the most common reasons given for holding onto
cash.<br />
Wasteful airport purchases to use up cash include novelty hats and expensive
luxury chocolate.</span><br />

most popular items for mopping up money include:</span><span style="font-family: inherit;">
<br />
1. Soft toys<br />
2. Sunglasses<br />
3. Perfume<br />
4. Luxury chocolate – costing over £50 per 100g<br />
5. Super sized bottles of spirit<br />
6. Cosmetic products – makeup and hair<br />
7. Handbags<br />
8. Top of the range earphones / headphones<br />
9. Novelty clothing – hats, gloves, T-shirts<br />
10. Electronic gadgets – tablets and mobile devices<br />

You have
everyone from great granny and granddad, distant aunts and uncles and little
ones to please. Large property lettings agent,<span style="color: red;"> </span><a href="http://thebigdomain.com/"><span style="color: red;">thebigdomain.com</span></a> </span><span style="font-family: Calibri;">shares its top tips for a successful soiree.</span></span><br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><a name='more'></a></span><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span></span></div>
<div>
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Include some pre-planned activity – while a full on itinerary for the entire
gathering is probably going a little overboard, there’s no better way to make
sure there is some structure and that all the key reasons for getting together
are covered off than with some touch-in points for specific dinners or activities.
It’s also really important to make sure everyone has some downtime so that they
can relax or go out and do their own thing<br />
<br />
Make sure everyone feels involved – ensure everyone has the opportunity to be
involved by asking people in advance to contribute their ideas for games and
potential group outings. Not everyone will want to be involved in everything –
if granny would rather have an afternoon nap than play volleyball in the pool
again then she’ll probably be in a better mood for that evening’s dinner<br />
<br />
Something for everyone – with people of all ages and interests getting together
you’re never going to please everyone with a one-size-fits-all event. This
doesn’t mean having to organise a special tour to indulge one person’s niche
interest but a little goes a long way when taking into consideration someone’s
allergies or that they have a small baby to keep in a routine, for example<br />
<br />
Be considerate – this is a broad one but one that needs to be front of mind
with any large group gathering. This is not to say that everyone should be
walking on eggshells for the entire getaway, that’s no fun. Just make sure
you’re not hogging all of uncle’s delicious special recipe pasta or being the
person that takes forever to get ready and always keeps everyone else waiting<br />
<br />
Be patient – there’s always that one person who manages to push our buttons or
say the wrong thing. For the sake of keeping the peace and not ruining the
jubilant atmosphere, take a deep breath and think positive thoughts…like
beating them at pool in the games room or relaxing in the private hot tub later<br />
<br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">John Jenkins MBE, 68 from Wallingford, is a retired Team GB
disabled swimmer and table tennis star and has used a wheelchair since the age
of five when he was diagnosed with Polio. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">John competed at the top level of wheelchair table tennis
and swimming for over 10 years – representing Great Britain at the 1984
Paralympics. He also represented his country at several World Championships in
both sports achieving a bronze in Breaststroke. <br />
Since retirement he now focuses more on his charity work for SportsAble which
promotes awareness of disability through sport and encourages the integration
of disabled and able-bodied people. <br />
Despite John’s zest for life, accessing the countryside has always presented a
challenge in a wheelchair until he discovered the TGA Breeze S4 mobility
scooter (dark grey limited edition). This rugged 8mph machine became famous
nationwide following its appearance on the BBC 2 Top Gear TV programme. <br />
John said: “Since ownership I have been very impressed with its performance on
the initial runs I have attempted. Much more is planned in the future as I
cannot wait to explore the neighbouring Thames footpath. My love of wildlife,
especially birds, will be fulfilled I’m sure and fishing could be on the agenda
too.” <o:p></o:p></span></div>

The spring weather can be unpredictable, so why not visit a local museum if you
do have a rainy day? There are thousands of museums in Britain that are free</span><span style="font-family: inherit;"> so you
won't be short of choices for fun, interesting visits that won't break the
bank.<br style="mso-special-character: line-break;" />

</span><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Desperate for
a spontaneous holiday but have no time?<br />
Fear not, LateRooms.com has pulled together a list of must-haves for all spur
of the moment adventurers (or the super organised) meaning you won’t have any
packing related flaps the next time you steal away.</span></span><br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">1. A valid passport</span><br />
Forgive us for pointing out the obvious, but always ensure you’ve got a valid
passport, ideally with six months before it expires. Many destinations outside
of Europe insist on this for entry, so if you frequently travel to Asia on
business, or are partial to a spontaneous trip to Australia (as you do), then
bear this in mind.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">2. The universal charger and power bank</span><br />
When it comes to chargers, prepare, prepare, prepare! Your sweet escape is made
so much sweeter by being able to gloat about it online with a Facebook check-in
or Instagram update. There’s nothing worse than not being able to take
those all important holiday snaps because of a drained battery.<br />
Your best bet is to invest in a universal charger (don’t get caught out by the
perennial two flat vs two rounded prongs dilemma!) and portable power bank (for
when there isn’t a power source at all!) that you can keep packed and ready to
go.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">3. Invest in minis</span><br />
Decant, decant, decant! Why lug around heavy toiletries, which take up precious
space when you can stash your lotions and potions in miniature bottles and keep
a set ready and primed for jetting off at a moment’s notice? In one fell swoop
you’ll have killed two birds with one stone by ensuring you meet the pesky
under 100ml requirements and freeing up much needed extra space in your
luggage. Hotels are well known for providing mini bottles, so be sure to stock
up for future trips. Also, get yourself a travel toothbrush and toothpaste that
you keep in your bag so you don’t forget to pop yours in at the last moment.
No one wants to arrive at their destination with stale breath.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">4. Currency and insurance</span><br />
It’s always good to have a bit of spare cash to hand and even better when it’s
in the correct currency. After all, the last thing you want to do is go on the
hunt for an ATM as soon as you touch down. The best rates can often be found
online, so don’t be afraid to quote these the next time you head to your local
currency exchange, who will likely honour the rates they have on the web.
Always try and come home with a few extra Euros so you’ve got a stash of cash
ready and waiting, too.<br />
Also, be sure to take out annual travel insurance. Hopefully you’ll never need
to use it but it’s better to be safe than sorry, and a year-long solution means
one less thing to worry about if you’re looking to get away sharpish.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">5. Water purifier</span>
Without sounding melodramatic having a water purifier in your bag of tricks
could turn out to be a lifesaver. The LifeStraw is a great piece of kit – with
no moving parts or need for a battery, it promises to remove a minimum of
99.9999% of waterborne bacteria and parasites – a bargain at £30 given the
alternative is an upset tummy or worse.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">6. Speakers</span><br />
Everyone loves creating a bit of ambience on their travels with their favourite
playlist – whether it’s in the hotel room or on the beach, and there’s no
easier way to kill it than by having some tinny music playing pathetically from
your phone. The solution? Get a mini speaker for about £15. Voila, music to
your ears (and you won’t be reminiscent of that kid sat at the back of the bus
annoying everyone).<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">7. Swiss army knife</span><br />
Sound random? Think again, this crafty pocket sized gadget can come in to use
in all types of situations, from peeling fruit, to acting as a can opener, and
opening bottles of beer – you name it, it can do it. A precautionary warning
with this one, though: make sure it goes in hold luggage if you’re flying!<br />
<span style="color: red;"><br />
8. A camera</span><br />
Even though smartphones and their built in cameras are ubiquitous these days,
get extra wow from your holiday photos with a dedicated camera. GoPros are
great for capturing shots hands-free whether that be on the move, underwater or
from a dizzying height. Or if you’re addicted to your smartphone, try out an
attachment to improve your snaps – from a waterproof case to a wide-angled
lens.</span></span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"></span></span><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><br /><span style="font-family: inherit;">
And that’s it, you’re ready and set to travel!</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="font-family: inherit;"></span></span><a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
Lorraine Pooley from East Sussex became the first UK patient to be fitted with
the new and improved C-Leg 4 which is the 4th generation of the first ever
computer controlled prosthetic leg and boasts additional features compared with
its three predecessors.<br />
<br />
Lorraine lost her right leg above the knee shortly after her 21st birthday,
when she was struck by a motor bike in 1991. Shortly after her accident,
Lorraine was given her first prosthetic leg but found it to be heavy and
cumbersome. Throughout all the challenges she has had to face, Lorraine has
remained focused on reclaiming her determination and getting back to the active
lifestyle she enjoys. Since being fitted with C-Leg 4, Lorraine is now eager to
get back to her active lifestyle which inclrathons.<br />
<br />
Lorraine said “Without the technology I've used, I would not have achieved what
I have done in my life so far".<br />
<br />
The new <a href="http://www.ottobock.co.uk/"><span style="color: red;">C-Leg 4</span></a> is available in two colours and enters a new era with its
additional features, including real time swing phase control fuelled by 3D
motion analysis and strengthened stumble recovery support. Another highly
beneficial feature for amputees is the new standing function. This recognises
when the wearer has stopped and dampens the knee in a slightly flexed position
to provide maximum stability and comfort. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">As we soak up the final rays for another year, hotel bookers LateRooms.com
documents how Britain has holidayed at home and abroad this summer – from city
breaks to exploring some of the UK’s lesser-visited coasted and rural spots, as
well as the European destinations we simply couldn’t get enough of. <o:p></o:p></span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"></span><a name='more'></a><br />
Brits are sticking to old habits when heading on UK city breaks. London,
Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh sit pretty on top of a 10 strong list of
destinations that has remained virtually static for the last five years. <br />
Of these top ten most popular UK destinations this July and August, six are
northern towns or cities, with summer events like the Edinburgh Fringe and
Manchester Pride providing perfect destinations for a trip away.<br />
Edinburgh topped the UK’s most expensive destination during August, due to the
Edinburgh festival, where room costs increased by 75% on January (the most
economical time to visit the city) and averaged £20 per night more expensive
than London. <o:p></o:p><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Larger
coastal resorts such as Blackpool, Brighton and Bournemouth have continued to
enjoy a rise in visitor numbers, and sit atop the list of the UK’s most popular
seaside towns and cities. Blackpool, in particular, has been part of a retro
revival that has seen other traditional resorts including Southend-on-Sea,
Margate and Skegness also witness a boom in bookings.<br />
Old favourite Weston-super-Mare has returned to rude health following the
catastrophic fire that wrecked the Grand Pier’s pavilion in 2008, jumping 13
places since 2011 to the UK’s 10th most popular overnight coastal resort. With
visitors expected to have ploughed an extra £7m into the local economy this
past summer alone*, hoteliers have seen booking numbers jump as many look to
visit Banksy’s acclaimed Dismaland exhibition.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">But for every
classic comeback there has been an up and coming seaside resort making waves:
Amongst some of the coastal villages that boomed this summer were Burry Port in
Carmarthenshire (up 180%), Anstruther on Scotland’s Fife coast (up 166%),
Anglesey’s Treaddur Bay (up 114%) and South Hayling in Hampshire (up 136%).<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">And away from
the coastline, a number of smaller towns and villages have seen spikes in
booking as exploratory Brits opt for lesser-known destinations on an increasing
basis. Amongst them, Castle Cary, a market town in Somerset, saw bookings
up 126% this summer compared to last year, Cumbria’s Cartmel on the outskirts
of the Lake District proved another popular bolt hole with visitors up 116% on
July and August 2014. Shipston-on-Stour, one of the Cotswolds’
lesser-known towns, saw bookings go up by 95% and Cheshire’s footballer
friendly Alderley Edge saw a 58% increase in bookings through the LateRooms.com
site since last year.<br />
<br />
And if Brits haven’t been soaking up the clean sea air or a show in the West
End, chances are they’ve been abroad.<br />
The most popular European destination this summer was Amsterdam - the rest of
the top 10 were also city breaks with Paris, Rome and Barcelona proving favourites
once again.<br />
The continental drifters have shown themselves happy to brave the Dubai summer
heat, with the city in the desert ranking most popular non-European destination
for the second year in a row. Kuala Lumpur rose from sixth to second in the popularity
stakes while Bangkok was third.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;">
</span><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Following a successful pilot project in 2013/14, with four destinations;
VisitEngland accessed funding from the European Commission to expand the Access
for All initiative, with a grant of €125,000. For the past year VisitEngland
has been working with seven local destination partners across the country, to
create a series of access guides covering coastal, countryside and city
destinations. These include:<br />
<br />
Ø Visit Kent<br />
<br />
Ø Marketing Birmingham<br />
<br />
Ø Visit Lincoln<br />
<br />
Ø Northumberland Tourism<br />
<br />
Ø Visit Peak District and Derbyshire<br />
<br />
Ø Experience Nottinghamshire<br />
<br />
Ø Visit Brighton<br />
56 businesses are involved in the project; including a mix of accommodation and
attractions such as Lincoln Cathedral, Brighton & Hove Buses, Chatsworth
House, Turner Contemporary, Hotel La Tour, Vindolanda Roman Fort and Nottingham
Belfry amongst many others. The businesses involved have worked hard to make
changes – focusing on positive action - to improve perceptions of Accessible
England.<br />
VisitEngland research highlights that the overnight accessible tourism market
is now worth £3billion to the English economy, with day visits bringing the
figure up to £12.1 billion. Over the past few years overnight trips by
disabled travellers and their companions have increased by 19% with spend up by
33%.</span></span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
The Purple Pound presents tourism businesses and destinations with a huge
opportunity for economic growth. New figures from VisitEngland confirm an
approximate value of overnight accessible tourism to the destinations involved:<br />
<br />
· Kent: £60m<br />
<br />
· Birmingham: £50m<br />
<br />
· Lincoln: £9m<br />
<br />
· Northumberland: £65m<br />
<br />
· Derbyshire: £45m<br />
<br />
· Nottinghamshire: £30m<br />
<br />
· Brighton and Hove: £14m<br />
Some of the great initiatives include those introduced by Brighton & Hove
Buses (part of the Go-Ahead group) which provides wheelchair access to 100% of
their fleet. They are trialling the use of hearing loop systems on a bus; have
a Helping Hand yellow card scheme; offer a wheelchair taxi guarantee if someone
cannot get onto the bus and have many innovations to help disabled visitors use
their buses.<br />
<br />
VisitEngland, Chief Executive James Berresford, said: “The accessible tourism
market is worth a sizable £12.1 billion to the English economy and many tourism
businesses are realising that catering for disabled customers is not only a
necessity but a wise investment.”<br style="mso-special-character: line-break;" />

see rush on September bookings!</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="font-family: inherit;"></span></span><a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
New research from Direct Line Travel Insurance reveals that Brits are gearing
up for a post-school holiday holiday as half (49 per cent) of travel agents
report a surge in bookings in the first week of September1. Much of this
activity is driven by holidaymakers without children seeking to take advantage
of cheaper prices now that the summer 'high season' is over.<br />
<br />
The peak time for a post-school holiday season break is the second week of
September (38 per cent), followed by the last two weeks of September (26 per
cent). While eight per cent of those organising a holiday now the high
season has passed are planning to get away in October, others are already
booking for the winter months of November and December.<br />
<br />
When it comes to identifying who is jetting away, group bookings are driving
demand (65 per cent), followed by couples (22 per cent) and single travellers
(12 per cent). The most popular destinations identified for groups and single
travellers are the Balearics, with Brits jetting away to chase late season sun
and enjoy the Ibiza closing parties. Mainland Spain is the second most
popular destination for Brits looking for a holiday now the high season is
over.<br />
<br />
Travel agents revealed that demand for these destinations is being driven by a
desire for great nightlife, beaches and culture.<br />
<br />
When it comes to couples getting away this autumn, demand is highest for
European city breaks. Once out of the school holidays, cheaper flights to
the likes of Barcelona, Paris, Rome and Berlin makes these attractive options
for couples looking for a bargain. The second most popular vacation spot
for couples is the Greek islands, followed by long haul destinations to the
likes of the United States and Thailand. Travel agents highlighted
romance, culture and atmosphere as the key deciding factors for couples looking
for an autumn break.<br />
<br />
Tom Bishop, head of travel insurance at Direct Line, comments: "Given the
shocking bank holiday weather in the UK, it is no wonder people will be attracted
by late summer sun.”<o:p></o:p></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">There are few things more satisfying than knowing there is a Bank Holiday on
the horizon, but deciding where to go and what to do isn’t all that easy.</span><br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><br />
This year, though, <a href="http://laterooms.com/"><span style="color: red;">LateRooms.com</span></a> has made the lives of the indecisive much
easier and pulled together a list of where’s hot to head to. Whether it’s a
beach break or an urban retreat you’re after, just throw all caution to the
wind and get yourself booked in to one of these locations. Like, now.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">London</span> <br />
With the infamous Notting Hill Carnival taking place on the Bank Holiday
weekend, it’s no surprise that London has come out top on in the popularity
contest. The carnival weekend kicks off on Saturday with three days of open-air
concerts, dance, steel bands and costumes galore. Bring the clan along for the
Sunday family day for a bank holiday full of culture and an experience the kids
will never forget. From the colourful parade to family workshops and costumes
awards, your weekend will be far from boring.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">Blackpool</span><br />
It’s a classic beach break and no bank holiday round up would be complete
without it, yes it’s the one and only Blackpool. The infamous attractions
are as exciting as ever, from Pleasure Beach to the Winter Gardens and of
course, the iconic Blackpool Tower. This bank holiday treat the kids and extend
your trip and book in to the many shows and activities from the Hot Ice Show to
Cats the Musical. Also, be sure to take a trip Madame Tussauds to see The
Beatles, The Queen and Olly Murs’ wax figures.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">Manchester</span><br />
Capital of the North, Manchester is a new entry in the bank holiday mix but not
one to underestimate. With an array of museums with exhibitions and activities

</span><span style="font-family: inherit;">Cruise Critic offers tips to catch a deal for all budgets:</span><br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
</span><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
<span style="color: red;">· Time it right for savings</span><br />
There are two upcoming industry-wide cruise sales. Cruise Week, (September
19–27) sees cruise lines and agents offer a variety of promotions, and for
those not prepared to book this autumn, Wave Season, (January-March), is an
annual period at the start of the year when cruise lines unveil promotions for the
upcoming season.<br />
Any considerations?<br />
Don't be lured just by price when seeking a deal - it’s important to find the
right ship and itinerary. Prior to booking, cruisers should research aspects
such as cabins, dining, entertainment and atmosphere.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">· Sail off-season</span><br />
Cruising during a destination’s low season can be a great way to secure a deal.
The Mediterranean was selected as a top destination in Cruise Critic's survey
of UK cruisers, and those able to sail during its low season (October-April) may
discover good, money-saving opportunities.<br />
Any considerations?<br />
Each destination has different low season considerations. For the Med,
the weather during peak winter months can be changeable, so cruisers should
pack appropriately. While a benefit of visiting in winter is fewer crowds
(except peak Christmas period), some local attractions and restaurants may
close or operate limited opening hours.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">· Book early</span><br />
Those who prefer to book in advance may find promotions by booking as soon as
sailings go on sale – usually a year or more ahead of the sail date. For early
bookings, cruise lines often offer added-value promotions, such as drink
packages and airfare.<br />
Any considerations?<br />
Cruisers should ensure the add-on is of personal value. Drinks packages won’t
matter much for cruisers that don’t drink, and Internet packages won’t benefit
everyone.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">· It’s all about the show</span><br />
Throughout the year, various cruise events take place across the country.
Visitors can meet cruise lines representatives and may find deals and
promotions.<br />
Any considerations?<br />
While it varies depending on the cruise line, discounts available at
exhibitions tend to be exclusive to each show, therefore visitors should be
prepared to book at the event to benefit from that particular offer.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">· Flexible savings</span><br />
Those able to book at short notice, and flexible on choices such as sailing
dates, cabins and itinerary, may discover great bargains on sailings leaving
within 90 days, as this is when final payments are usually due. Cabins
not paid in full may be released, which could result in discounted fares.<br />
Any considerations?<br />
For cruises departing outside of the UK (which exclude flights), additional
costs such as last-minute airfare, may cancel out savings. Cruisers
should also remember that cabin choices and dinner seating options might be
limited. However, last minute booking can yield fantastic savings for those
with flexibility.<br />

</span><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Summer is
nearly over and more women than men feel down after the break.</span></span><br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
A recent survey of 1,000 Brits carried out by momondo found over half of all
questioned experienced ’the holiday blues’, when returning from their travels.<br />
<br />
In fact, more women admitted to feeling down than men, with 61% of women and
51% of men feeling sad, in low spirits or depressed, after returning from a
holiday.<br />
<br />
While 58% of 18-22 year olds, 57% of 23-35 year olds and 58% of 36-55 year olds
felt depressed returning from a holiday, a lower percentage of 56-65 year olds
- at 47%, experienced these feelings.<br />
<br />
Happy holidays…<br />
Conversely 62% of Brits admitted to feeling happier and more positive when
taking time off to travel.<br />
<br />
Additionally, for 30% of Brits, a holiday has a positive effect on their
relationship with their partner. And 20% of Brits stated a holiday has a
positive effect on their children.<br />
<br />
Though it seems happiness on holiday is dependent for many on their travel
companions. For 22% of those surveyed, their people they are travelling with
must be happy, for them to have a good holiday themselves.<br />
<br />
Beat the blues by booking the next…<br />
momondo found the return to everyday life after a holiday was often made easier
for Brits, by fantasising about the next trip.<br />
<br />
Interestingly, 26% of women and 21% of men dream about being back on holiday
after a trip.<br />
<br />
And 28% of women and 20% of men beat the holiday blues by dreaming about the
next holiday they would like to take.<br />
<br />
Spokesperson at momondo, Lasse Skole Hansen, states: “The annual summer holiday
is often the last luxury to be spared if needs must, due to the positive effect
it creates..“<br />

across the globe, such as Barcelona, Las Vegas, Paris, Phuket, Sao Paulo and
Ibiza.<br />
<br />
While Brits abroad are notoriously known for their poor tipping practices, the
findings highlight that it is the French who take the inglorious title of the
world's tightest tippers. One in three (30 per cent) of the bars and
restaurants interviewed highlight Britain's closest continental neighbour as
most tight-fisted. British travellers were placed second (21 per cent) with
Italy (11 per cent) completing the bottom three.<br />

Tom Bishop, head of travel insurance at Direct Line, comments: "Tipping
expectations vary hugely across the globe and reflect different cultures,
attitudes and laws.”</span><br />
<span style="color: red;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><a href="http://www.iceplc.com/"><span style="color: red;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>ICE – International Currency Exchange</span></a> have
offered advice to help you when abroad:<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">Europe</span><br />
<br />
In restaurants, a 5% to 10% tip, in cash is best, when there is no service
included. Give porters €1 to €2 per bag and the same per day for housekeeping
staff. You don’t need to tip in taxis, but you can round up the fare.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">Canada and USA</span><br />
<br />
There is no service charge in North America, so a 15% to 20% tip is expected.
In hotels, porters expect $1 to $2 per bag and housekeepers get $2 to $5,
depending on the standard of the hotel. Add a 10% to 15% tip to your taxi
bills.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">South America</span><br />
<br />
The standard tip, in South America, is 10% in restaurants, if service isn’t
already included. Taxi drivers don’t generally get a tip, but hotel porters
expect around $1 per bag, whilst housekeepers get $2 per day.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">Southeast Asia</span><br />
<br />
In Japan and China tipping is a no-no, so there is never any need to do it. In
Hong Kong service is already added at top end hotels at 10% to 20%, but if not
you can tip porters 10 yuan. Apart from Japan and China, the rest of Asia is
happy for you to round up taxi fares.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;">Australia and New Zealand</span><br />
<br />
They may be on the same side of the world, but their tipping culture is quite
different. Tipping is not expected in restaurants in New Zealand, but in
Australia a 10% tip is expected in good restaurants. Whilst you don’t need to
tip a taxi driver in Australia, in New Zealand people generally add 10% to
their bill. In hotels, porters get $1 to $2 per bag and housekeepers get $1 to
$5 per day.<br />
<br />
<br /><span style="color: red;">
Middle East</span><br />
<br />
In restaurants, expect a service charge to be added, but if not, then just the
standard 10% is acceptable. When it comes to hotel porters, £1 to £2 per bag is
about right and £1 to £2 per day for housekeepers. However, tipping is not
expected in taxis.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;"> Africa</span><br />
<br />
If there is no service charge added, a 5% to 10% tip is a good amount or 5% in
South Africa. In hotels, it’s a good idea to tip the concierge on arrival to
get added services, such as arranging excursions. Porters only require £1 per
bag and taxi drivers should get 10% on top of the final bill.<br />
<br />
<br />
“Tipping etiquette varies from country to country” says Koko Sarkari, COO of
ICE. “It really pays to do your research so that you can budget accordingly and
tip appropriately.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
