Stay & Save

Brits wanting to save on their spring and summer holiday this year should keep it local as a two-week holiday in the UK can cost £2,000 less than a European holiday.

Holidaymakers booking their spring and summer getaways are taking advantage of the cheaper Euro for an affordable break. The research by holidaycottages.co.uk has shown a two week getaway in the UK comes in at an estimated total of £822.80, while a two-week holiday in Spain comes in at an estimated £2,922.93 – a massive saving of just over £2,100.13, when the difference in the cost of all the holiday essentials including travel insurance, accommodation, mobile roaming charges, dog kennels, dining, entertainment and airport parking are added up.

By choosing a cosy four-sleeper cottage in Devon rather than a stay at four-star hotel in Spain, families will save £1,700 on accommodation. With no extra mobile roaming charges or airport parking fares in the UK, families can save a further £100 toward their holidays!

Budget-conscious families wanting a fun day out on their two-week holiday including a visit to a theme park, will save over £70 on tickets for four to a family attraction, and a further £20 on a meal out.

Managing director of holidaycottages.co.uk, James Morris commented, “Without the hassle of flights and costs of added extras, holiday makers can enjoy the natural beauty and impressive scenery that the UK has to offer.”
