Good Reviews Count

Risk averse Brits choose to book hotel rooms based on the most favourable negative user reviews.

According to hotel experts LateRooms.com. more than seven out of 10 people (72%) looking to choose between similar hotels search and open the worst reviews first when selecting a hotel ahead of their business trip, romantic weekend away, concert with their mates or family wedding.

It is only after viewing the reviews with the lowest score that they then move on to the more positive evaluations from previous hotel guests and average scores.

Peer recommendations are the most important influencer for people considering a hotel booking.

“Consumers rate the recommendations of others who have already stayed in the hotel they are considering as the most important influence on their final choice,” said Andrea Tarpey, spokeswoman for LateRooms.com.

Guests can only post a review on LateRooms.com once they have stayed at their hotel.
